Abstract:

Over the past decade, a new pattern of intra-European mobility—onward migration—has become increasingly visible. This phenomenon involves refugees and economic migrants who, after acquiring citizenship in one EU country, subsequently relocate to another. Although onward migration has been widely examined within Migration Studies and Sociology (e.g. Toma & Castagnone 2015; Ahrens et al. 2016; Montagna et al. 2021), its linguistic dimensions remain comparatively underexplored.
